Richard received his Master of Science in Acupuncture – Orthopedic & Sports Medicine at Pacific College in New York. He was one of the very few to get into PCOM’s short-lived Orthopedic & Sports Medicine program which focused on the location and treatment of motor points, for the treatment of pain and improved neuromuscular function. The program also focused on sports medicine assessment and rehabilitation as seen in the work of Dr. Vladimir Janda of the Prague School of Rehabilitation. In addition to the above, Richard also studied Neurofunctional Electric Stimulation Acupuncture under Dan Wunderlich, LAc and the theories and methods of Dr. C C Gunn and Dr. Janet Travell.
Richard’s practice in New York City focuses on treating chronic pain and injury and improving sports performance by assessing muscle imbalances and decreased range of motion. He gets excellent results in very few treatments by keeping the focus on restoring the function of the limb, joint or spinal segment, instead of attempting to merely treat the site of pain. Richard uses his knowledge of sports medicine to help professional and amateur athletes improve mobility and strength, so they can perform at their highest level.
Richard has taught several motor point seminars for CMTW since 2016.
